"Speak Simple Words"
To speak when we're not spoken to
is not the Saviours way.
For He was mocked and spit upon
yet turned His face away.
They beat Him with an awful rod
upon a crown of thorns
and thus in turn He spoke no words
accepting all their scorn.
I know as Gods word tells me,
my sins were laid on Him
and so I must give Him my trust
and live my life for Him.
We do His will from day to day
our cross we carry still;
abide in His word, live for my Lord
and keep my tongue so still.
From the silence as He hung there
these simple words we hear,
"Father, please forgive them
for they know not what they do."
May our words be few and simple
as our Lord who showed His love
as He bowed His head and died for us
who now watches from above.
